Practice Safe Promo, too.

Dentyne

Today the sweeper sites showed us the glory that is the Dentyne Promotional Website:

Pocket Ammo Instant Win Game

Yet when we got there they seemed to need to put up this very unhappy and very ironical Technical Difficulties page.  Because when you practice safe breathTM and tell people to “Be Ready for Anything” with your product, you really should have been ready for the traffic to your backside.

Especially when you have a backside on your front page.  I’m just saying.

Apparently the game has been down since 4.30/pm on Monday, March 1st.  That’s two days and counting… a lifetime in a promotion that is giving away approximately 109 prizes per day.  The brand has been keeping its 970-some Twitter followers and 456 Facebook fans up-to-date, and the good news is that the outcry has certainly not reached a KFC-Oprah epidemic.

I was going to use this space to follow up on our ongoing conversation on how rules are important, and how they exist for times just like this so that you are covered for technical errors, traffic overages, horrors of printing, tsunamis and other acts of god in addition to hacking and mechanical entry issues.  However, under inspection of the Official Rules, we came to group opinion that…  well, let’s just hope that this promo has been under attack by Nigerian Internet pirates and not some simple programming glitch.

If this lasts until next Friday, we’ll talk about the importance on Errors & Omissions insurance.

On a completely unrelated note, Are you a brand manager who likes maple syrup and ice hockey? There seems to be career opening for you.

Meg and

Brian helped with this.  Thanks guys!
